Metabolism
Every organ and biological system that builds the body fulfils certain tasks. The digestive system collects, digests and absorbs food and removes undigested residue from the body. The respiratory system
provides gas exchange. The role of the urinary tract is to cleanse the body of unnecessary and harmful substances formed as a result of metabolism. The circulatory system deals with the transport of substances between these systems. However, the immune system associated with it is responsible for protecting the body against pathogens. Different systems enable efficient functioning of cells in which metabolic changes take place.

Task 13
Male and female students decided to check experimentally whether physical effort accelerates the heart rate. Three male and three female students from a lower grade were invited to race over a distance of 100 m. Immediately after the run, the blood pressure of each of them was measured and the results were recorded along with the names of the children. Evaluate the preparation and conduct of the experiment. Formulate advice for the authors.
Task 14
Doctors have examined several people who lead the same lifestyle for a long period of time, consumed large amounts of food every day and were never hungry. The examination proved that these people were undernourished. Explain how it was possible and what malnutrition might be in their case.
Task 15
Ola, Gosia and Aga walked slowly for 3 minutes, then quickly ran for 4 minutes, then walked again.
Each of them was wearing a device for measuring the heartbeat. The measurement results are shown in the graph. OR What is the name of device measuring the heartbeat?

Przebieg lekcji Przed lekcją
Uczniowie powtarzają wiadomości dotyczące zagadnień odżywiania, oddychania i wydalania oraz wykonują polecenia zamieszczone abstrakcie.
Faza wstępna
Nauczyciel podaje temat, cele lekcji i kryteria sukcesu sformułowane w języku zrozumiałym dla ucznia.
Prowadzący lekcję prosi uczniów, żeby sformułowali swoje indywidualne kryteria sukcesu, podając liczbę prawidłowo wykonanych poleceń z poszczególnych działów („Pamiętam i rozumiem”, „Czytam i interpretuję”, „Rozwiązuję problemy”).
Uczniowie, pracując w parach, porównują polecenia z różnych działów i wyjaśniają, na czym polega specyfika każdego z nich.
Faza realizacyjna
Prowadzący lekcję poleca uczniom, żeby wytłumaczyli znaczenie terminu „metabolizm”, odnosząc się do informacji zawartych w abstrakcie.
Nauczyciel wyświetla ilustrację interaktywną „Szkic mapy pojęć” i prosi uczniów, żeby określili elementy, których brakuje do zobrazowania pojęcia metabolizmu. Uczniowie przerysowują ilustrację do zeszytów i dorysowują brakujące elementy, a następnie zapisują definicję metabolizmu.
Prowadzący lekcję dzieli losowo klasę na pięcioosobowe grupy. Zadaniem każdej z nich jest omówienie poleceń zamieszczonych w abstrakcie i określenie poprawnych odpowiedzi.
Po upływie wyznaczonego czasu członkowie każdego zespołu odliczają do pięciu i zapamiętują przypisaną im cyfrę. Następnie losują karteczki z numerami poleceń dla sąsiedniej grupy.
Nauczyciel podaje punktację poszczególnych poleceń, po czym zaprasza uczniów do gry.
Wybrani uczniowie z kolejnych grup wykonują wyznaczone im polecenia. Poprawność odpowiedzi ocenia grupa zadająca polecenia, a ewentualne wątpliwości rozstrzyga prowadzący lekcję.
Każda grupa sumuje zdobyte punkty, nauczyciel wskazuje zwycięski zespół.
Faza podsumowująca
Nauczyciel prosi, aby uczniowie samodzielnie wykonali wskazane ćwiczenie interaktywne.

Lesson plan overview Before classes
Students repeat messages regarding the issues of nutrition, breathing and excretion and follow the instructions placed in the abstract.
Introduction
The teacher gives the topic, the goals of the lesson in a language understandable for the student, and the criteria of success.
The teacher asks pupils to formulate their individual success criteria, giving the number of correctly executed commands from particular departments („I remember and understand”, „I read and interpret”, „I solve problems”).
Students, working in pairs, compare tasks from different paragraphs and explain what the specificity of each of them is.
Realization
The teacher instructs students to explain the meaning of the term „metabolism”, referring to the information contained in the abstract.
The teacher displays an interactive illustration of „Sketch maps of concepts” and asks students to identify elements that are missing to illustrate the concept of metabolism. Students redo the illustrations to the notebooks and draw in the missing elements and then write down the definition of metabolism.
The teacher divides the class into five groups. The task of each of them is to discuss the tasks included in the abstract and determine the correct answers.
After the expiration of time, members of each team count to five and remember the number assigned to them. Then draw cards with task numbers for the next group.
The teacher gives the score for each task, then invites the students to play.
Selected students from subsequent groups follow their instructions. Correctness of the answer is assessed by the group asking the instructions, and any doubts are resolved by the teacher.
Each group sums up the points scored, the teacher indicates the winning team.
Summary
The teacher asks students to carry out the recommended interactive exercise themselves.
