30 g Campherchinon1) hydrierten wir bei gewöhnlichem Druck und bei Zimmer
temperatur in 400 cm3 Alkohol unter Zusatz von 5 g frisch dargestelltem Zfewey-Nickel.
Die Hydrierung verlief zunächst sehr rasch; im Verlaufe einer Stunde wurden 2 Wasser
stoffatome aufgenommen. Die Aufnahme der weiteren 2 Wasserstoffatome verlief yiel langsamer. Sie war nach 24 Stunden beendet. Die berechnete Wasserstoffmenge (2 H 2) beträgt 8,1 Liter2). Hach dem Abfiltrieren vom Katalysator und mehrmaligem Aus
waschen mit heissem Alkohol hinterliess das F iltrat nach Verjagen des Alkohols unter schwach vermindertem Druck auf dem Wasserbad einen weissen Krystallbrei. Die Aus
beute an Rohprodukt war quantitativ. Zur Reinigung krystallisierten wir das Glykol mehrmals aus Benzin (Sdp. 50—90°) um und erhielten weisse, büschelförmige Nüdelchen vom Smp. 250—253° (im zugeschmolzenen Kapillarröhrchen). Es lässt sich im Vakuum bei 13 mm und 160° sublimiercn.

Zur Reinigung krystallisierten wir mehrmals aus Benzin (Sdp. 50—90°) um und erhielten schliesslich ein Produkt vom Smp. 253—255° (im zugeschmolzenen Kapillarröhrchen). F ür die spezifische Drehung erhielten wir konstante Werte.

b ad u nter Feuchtigkeitsausschluss. Das Beaktionsgem isch verflüssigte sich zunächst u n te r Entw icklung von Chlorwasserstoff, um schliesslich zu einer hartenM asse zu erstarren.
W ir nahm en in Ä ther a u f un d schüttelten w ährend 2 S tunden m it 0,S-n. Sodalösung.
Die ätherische Lösung trockneten w ir m it gegl. N atrium sulfat. N ach dem Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels blieb ein krystalliner R ückstand zurück, den w ir m ehrm als aus Benzin (Sdp. 50—90°) um krystallisierten. D adurch erhielten wir schwach gelblich gefärbte Nüdelchen vom Smp. 129—130°. Sie sind in Benzin, Alkohol und Benzol in der Kälte n icht besonders leicht löslich, in der Siedehitze dagegen ist die Löslichkeit sehr gross.

Zu 10 g Glykol I I gaben -wir 2 2 g p-Nitro-benzoylchlorid. W ir e r h itz te n a u f dem W asserbad u nter Feuchtigkeitsausschluss bis die Chlorwasserstoffentwieklung- nach etw a 24 Stunden beendet w ar. D as Reaktionsgem isch w urde zu Beginn flüssig, erstarrte aber naeh einiger Z eit zu einem h arte n K rystallbrei. W ir nahm en in Ä ther a u f und schüt
te lte n 4 S tunden m it verdünnter Sodalösung. Die ätherische Lösung dam pfte m an nach dem Trocknen m it gegl. N atrium sulfat ein, den R ückstand löste m an in möglichst wenig siedendem Alkohol und liess im K ühlschrank auskrystallisieren. Die abgeschiedenen Kry- stalle krystallisierten w ir m ehrm als aus einer Mischung von Benzin (Sdp. 50—90°) und
■wenig Benzol um und erhielten den Di-p-Nitro-benzoylester als schwach gelblich gefärbte Nüdelchen vom Smp. 191—192°. Sie sind in kaltem Alkohol un d in k altem Benzin schwer, in Benzol etwas besser löslich. Dagegen lösen sie sich leicht in heissem Alkohol und Benzin.

sieren m it Ammoniak destillierten wir das Aceton ab u n d nahm en den R ü c k sta n d in Ä ther auf. Die ätherische Lösung trocknete m an m it gegl. N atrium sulfat, verdam pfte das Lösungsm ittel u n d strich den zurückbleibenden, etwas öligen K rystallbrei a u f Ton.
Den a u f diese Weise erhaltenen weissen, krystallinen K örper behandelten wir nochm als in der gleichen Weise m it Aceton, arbeiteten das Reaktionsgem isch wie oben a u f und gewannen so ein Glykol vom Schm elzpunkt 230—231°.
